The Haunting of Hill House - Book Jacket Design

The Haunting of Hill House is a classic Gothic horror novel written by Shirley Jackson in 1959 and is considered one of the best literary ghost stories of the 20th century. The novel relies on relationships, supernatural phenomena and suspense at a long empty isolated house. Ambiguity and confusion over reality is a component of the book and the house is a character just like the people. For this design I wanted to show one of the main characters Eleanor as a part of the house and show the fear and suspense it elicits.
